Discover and protect the biodiversity of the Galapagos Islands

World Sustainability Foundation Galapagos Conservation Trust

Travel, explore, enjoy, and protect!

This trip was created with the aim of discovering local biodiversity and supporting conservation projects for endangered species and habitats threatened by human activities.

Why choose this trip?

The main difference with other similar trips is that part of your fee will go as a donation to support a conservation project in the Galapagos. In this way, in addition to having a wonderful holiday, you will do something concrete to protect what you love.

In addition, a naturalist will accompany you throughout the journey and, thanks to insights and excursions, will make you appreciate the wonders of the place even more.

Traveling with the naturalist

Your tour leader will be Mario Passoni.

Mario is a naturalist, he has worked for many years as a nature guide around the world, such as in the Maldives, Kenya, Mozambique, Seychelles, and also in Nosy Be.

In the past, he has conducted coral restoration projects and photo identification of manta rays, whale sharks, and sea turtles. He is now the conservation and awareness project manager of the World Sustainability Foundation (WSF).

During this trip, Mario will take you to discover nature and local biodiversity, both outside and inside the water.

Insights into biology

During your stay, our naturalist will offer you the following biology lessons:

The biodiversity of the Galapagos Islands
Curiosities from the animal world

Don’t worry, they are not real lessons, but just nice and interactive insights to show you what you will see during both sea and land excursions. We will also talk about conservation projects and how you can help protect biodiversity.

Part of the cost of this trip will be donated to the World Sustainability Foundation and the Galapagos Conservation Trust.

This donation will be used to protect and preserve the Galapagos and other important ecosystems and endangered species around the world. Thanks to your donation we will be able to learn about baby hammerhead sharks (also black tip sharks and several ray species) in the mangroves on the Islands. The team will film them underwater and also above water with drones to get important nursery sites protected in the future.

In addition, part of your donation will be destined to protect the global biodiversity!

World Sustainability Foundation

World Sustainability Foundation

The World Sustainability Foundation (WSF), is a non-profit arm of the World Sustainability Organization (WSO) that aims to protect and improve the environment by promoting a culture of sustainable development.

The World Sustainability Foundation is also active in the field of citizen awareness. Thanks to the assistance of experts, it provides outreach materials and support to companies on sustainable production and new technologies.

The Foundation is already involved in tens of conservation projects worldwide, such as in Italy, Madagascar, Galapagos, Peru, Mongolia, and Vietnam. It does so through a collaborative network of States, institutions, research centers, Universities, and Businesses certified by Friend of the Sea® or Friend of the Earth®.

Not only has the WSF developed its conservation projects, but it also supports and collaborates with NGOs and local communities in protecting endangered marine and terrestrial species and landscapes. Raising public awareness is critical to start inverting the tendency and reducing the human impact on the environment.

Galapagos Conservation Trust

Galapagos Conservation Trust was founded in 1995 and is the only UK-registered charity to focus exclusively on the conservation and sustainable development of the Galapagos Archipelago and its unique biodiversity.

They work with scientists, authorities, NGOs, and local communities to tackle key threats to the unique biodiversity of Galapagos, including invasive species, plastic pollution, climate change, and overfishing.

Together with their project partners, they gather the evidence needed for maximum conservation outcomes, whilst ensuring strong educational and communications campaigns garner public and political support for interventions.
